[Video] Upgrading the OS in my STE with EPROMs from the Exxos store

Morning all,

SDRAM was getting me down, so decided to give my STE a little bit of love with an upgrade to TOS 2.06.

Here's how it went.

Cheers,

BW

Re: Getting ROMs burnt

Bigs thanks to @Badwolf for burning the ROMs for me. Added a switch to an Exxos diagnostic cartridge to allow me to bypass the cartridge if needed. Lots of hot snot needed to hold things in place securely. No worries, glad they work! Regarding booting EmuTOS from the cartridge -- may I heartily rec...

Re: Wanted: old heavy 3.5" short button floppy

I'm confused as to what you're trying to do: my STE (short button) holds a Gotek completely unmodified. Yes I know it will but I do not have a Gotek as I am trying to fit one of these The link prominently shows Goteks. :) I assume you mean you just have the bare board? Perhaps have a look on Thingi...

Re: Understanding, Measuring, and Reducing Output Voltage Ripple

However spikes and ripple can influence the reliability of items.. Badly designed power supplies or old power supplies can output several volts on the 5V rail thousands of times a second. Of course it's no good for electronics equipment. It also seems to be the main killer of falcons so far. Genuin...

Re: DFB1r4 design discussion thread

No rush from my perspective..but happy to try & help as/when I can (while I try to fix my H4 & H5 boards...and recap/repair all the other ST & Amiga systems)... Alas, I'd forgotten I'd started cannibalising that board so it's not a goer at the moment. Aha. the difference there is that Stephen...

Re: DFB1r4 design discussion thread

Hmm, maybe the experiences of @terriblefire suggest that others might not fall in line with your expectations!  Aha. the difference there is that Stephen's demonstrably the best person to fix HDL issues with the TF range. I have no qualms in admitting I'm not! :D I'd be game to try it o...

Re: DFB1r4 design discussion thread

The basics, though, are an arseache! Indeed they are! then on that monumental day when you have it all working perfectly, someone else tries it in their machine, and it does not boot up or even tried to. Then you have to go back to square one and start all over again! :hide: Ha! But th...
