Re: SCART image quality
Without something with a known good high sample rate and good A-to-D you’re not going to get anywhere. Most LCD TVs have rubbish analogue to digital conversion with poor signal noise filtering. They’d designed with crummy VHS resolution in mind and barely work. The aliasing of the luminance levels a...

Re: SCART image quality
Your not getting the rough sided vertical lines either. Its difficult to know if that is normal for scart, or bad TVs, or its something the STE is doing, or all of the above! It's usually the TV. They generally seem to have, in effect, a low pass filter which smears the signal out and then they try...

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Well, after a couple of reflows of the SRAM the board works. IMG_3668.jpeg IMG_3669.jpeg I've no way of actually doing a proper RAM test unfortunately, unless maybe I fit into the F1 and run my HIMEM test program. I did try running is on the Xi but it immediately caused the screen to go wonky and cr...

Re: Acorn RISC PC
I'd go gently as you suggested since I know on my A5000, even gentle cleaning cause bits to fall off!! Yes the slightest touch with the soft cotton wool on my A5000 alpha was enough to knock off some "bird seed" SMT capacitors/resistors taking their pads with them. If they were that far g...

Re: Acorn RISC PC
I've seen FAR worse than that. Vinegar and then de-ionised water for that. People who use Isopropyl alcohol don't know their chemistry. IPA is an organic solvent and the battery contents are inorganic so the IPA does absolutely nothing, similarly it does nothing to clear out the acidic vinegar. You ...
