Re: Atari ST OPL3 cart schematics
I think more experienced people will look at it the better. I've got already some feedback issues related to pcb, which I would like to address in next version. Currently I'm mostly worried about physical pcb and issues related to power connections and decoupling capacitors, so if you could take a ...

Re: Atari ST OPL3 cart schematics
I've made some changes to development pcb . I've shortened length a little and added pinouts for OPL3 interface hardware debugging.I hope to get some more feedback/review before I send it for manufacturing. I'd like to offer some help, but I'm not an audio guy and know little about what's needed on...

Re: LC III - Will it ever run?
I'm wondering if the CPU isn't seeing all the data bits the ROMs are setting on the data bus. This would make the start address wrong and it would also load a corrupted instruction and maybe try to access something in the I/O area ... So as to rule out the sockets, the HI ROM socket has corroded wi...

Re: LC III - Will it ever run?
OK, so no burst read is being requested but /STERM is being activated. The /BERR happens after a timeout. But /DSACK0 and /DSACK1 never go low! Sorry, I've not been following the thread in detail, but from your screen capture it looks like you've got an 030. In which case: STERM and DSACKx are muta...

Re: ST536 in a Mega ST4
Yes, I'm going to check the solder joints again. It runs great the first 15 minutes, GB6 works and I even could run a demo. But then it starts acting up and it freezing within seconds. So, it must be a heat related issue Let it cool down properly, then fire it up and run a hairdryer (or low setting...

Re: MagiC ROM for DFB1
I've been asked off-thread "Why would you do this? Just install it to hard disc." Fair question. So here's why:- With every OS you install on the ST range there always comes a time when you need to change a configuration or edit a file or do something quickly. And you end up at the plain G...

MagiC ROM for DFB1
With not much time to work on hardware recently, I've been dabbling with a bit of software hackery in my lunchtimes. Probably my favourite OS back in the day was MagiC. It was multitasking, it was fast, it was light. It was also recently (well, 6 years ago -- recently in the grand scheme of things) ...
