Suggested value and interest STbook

Post by Bikerbob »

I am selling for a friend a "parts" ST Book.

It has been disassembled. There was corrosion damage as it was stored in a moist area. There is some board damage. The 2.5 Hdd is dead. Overall seems in good shape.. but is it repairable? I don't know. Someone really good at component level work would have to have a go at it. Cosmetic is pretty good.

So what's something like this worth? Is there interest here? Last working ST book I saw go for over $2000. This is not that. I can do pictures of it all.. and will.

Just looking for opinions

Post pictures, because it all depends on the board condition. It'll need to be high quality photographs of the motherboard. Of course many will be interested, but that interest will depend on its repairability.

Ofc pictures - and there will be interest regardless of condition. "Just" the price that will be affected ;)

(I'm interested)

Interested - yes. Value? - as they say, hard to judge without seeing it.

I would be interested. I don't own one (or a Stacy) and I've been looking for years. (While I'm based in UK I can accept shipping to my office in SanJose CA)

@Robson How many STBooks do you need? ;-)

I need a donor, or use the one here to be a donor so complete one. Then I'd release it back to the wild.

A German ST Book just went for 1153 EUR on eBay (yeah I was outbid). It was sold as for parts/non working but from the description seemed just to be the seller not having any way of powering it. Otherwise it looked to be in great condition.

(Congrats to whomever sniped me ;))

Ouch! That's a lot of money.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

OK, I will take some detailed pictures, and post here first. I am selling it for a friend. I am getting a cut, but would love to give it a home to people I have delt with.. rather than the ebay frenzy.. besides there is so much more % bullcrap on ebay..

Pics to follow.
