There's an oft-abused quote from an American general that says of the military: 'amateurs talk tactics, professionals talk logistics'.
Having tried to follow your last few messages I think it's not unreasonable to say that in electronics engineering, amateurs talk features, the pros talk power supplies!

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
Ordered a SIC437AEVB-B Evaluation board as the chip seems to be the cheapest one in stock in mouser.
This one has all the usual features and looks very good performance wise. There is a 8amp & 12amp version in fact. Not going to mess around finding most energy efficient again. This chip does actually have lower resistance MOSFET stand the Texas chip. So I would imagine it will be inherently more efficient and run even cooler.
<rant>
Annoyingly, I had to order from Farnell It's a gamble whether they really have the stock or not and if they send the item I actually ordered. And what a surprise there yet AGAIN have changed their website. People have been complaining about this for literally years and they keep on doing it!! Now we have hard on the eyes pop-up boxes Seriously hate pop-ups, what is with web designers obsession with it all
I think AVnet are just trying to run the whole company into the ground. I'm really surprised CPC has lasted as long as it has. I remember years ago they introduced thousands of new items.. Which I think was just the ex-stock from Farnell.. When I tried to order, they would literally have one or two in stock and nothing else. It really made the new range totally useless and pointless past a marketing gimmick.
Farnell used to be a really good company up until about several years ago. I always remember when a new part came on the market, we guarantee Farnell would have it in stock very quickly. These days they do not even seem to carry even basic stuff any more. What they do list Seems to always end up on backorder as I have complained about the past few years repeatedly. Plus lately because of parts shortages they have seriously have hijacked their prices to the point of insanity.
RS seemed to have dwindled in recent times as well. You could used get some good bulk deals and carry the more obscure items that others did not. They do not seem to carry much choice and range like they used to. The bulk of my orders these days is to Mouser. Nothing like putting money into the UK economy is there

Bodge wires
Done some right hackery with all this. The Voron Board was too big to fit above the motor where the switch originally was so I had to mount it on the side the printer. Then annoyingly the metalwork is all aluminium so I had to bolt on a metal L bracket for the magnet to stick to.
I have recalibrated the bed and it seems to be behaving properly now. Zero is actually zero and it resets that without crashing into the bed or ending up 2 mm higher than the bed at home position!
Too tired to do anything else tonight is only just got home. I will see if I can print out a calibration square without it going nuts this time.
I am plotting my own small PCB to replace the switch as this board is way too large for this printer. It is also rather annoying as the presets are on the opposite side of the board than the circuit which makes mounting it very frustrating

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
I have been fighting with the bed levelling again
If I deliberately make the bed wonky, and run the the auto leveling stuff, I can see the z-axis moving up and down as the head moves left to right so it does work. Unfortunately the some reason is simply not accurate enough No matter what I do, the right-hand side of the bed always ends up higher than the left side (According to the firmware that is) . It's always consistently the same problem. However if I manually set the bed height the print is consistent and a lot better. If I then run auto calibration, the problem returns
Seems I'm starting to go down the rabbit hole with yet another printer
EDIT:
I am actually thinking these induction sensors are probably not reliable. My thoughts are that they likely depend on the magnetism the bed. So that magnetism is not consistent throughout, even tiny variations and will throw out the sensor. So I assume that is what the problem is.

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
You power supply demo board just came Not shown in the images it actually comes with three other value inductors. Which I will most likely ignore import something I want to put on there instead
The first ripple image was under a 0.5A load. The next one about 12A. Overall it is holding up pretty well at about 40mv p-p out of the box. I could not get any higher than 12 A as my bench power supply starting to complain I did manage to make my load resistor start glowing red though which was pretty cool
