Dumping Code

Post by sswcharlie »

Hi

Slightly off subject but just seeking some help to find answers. My apologies.

In the 1979-80s Texas Instruments produced the TMS1000 series with masked programs etc. Used in lots of whiteware and electronic games etc.

You are doing a similar thing that I would like to do and that is dump the masked rom. On a Rovex/Hornby Zero 1 model train controller.
The one I have is TMS1000NLP MP0186. On this link there is talk of using 'test mode(s)' to achieve this.

LINK REMOVED

Anyone aware of how this is done (not decapping). Some years ago it was done in UK but alas no name or contact etc to see how done.

Thankyou

Definitely a dodgy spam site... whenever you google something like 'blabla manual' these spam sites will always show themselves as 'blabla-manual-sogood.com.tw'

I see that text, but when I click the download link goes to a spam site.

A CPU manual should not just be a single page of badly formatted text.. CPU datasheet are normally hundreds of pages long in pdf format.

I would suggest you look for a proper download link or even upload the proper manual here (in zip format).

I have been discussing this with the other moderators, as I initially thought it appeared to be genuine, however the link ultimately leads to a site, smartcaptchasolve.top, that will ask you to allow notifications in your browser and the proceed to send spam notifications to you via your browser.

If you eventually get through to the site purporting to have the docs, it will than ask you to log in. This is not something that would normally be required to get this sort of information.

The info on the first page may be of use, however I would strongly suggest that you look for datasheets rather than a manual, and in the meantime I will remove the link so that other site users are not tempted to click on the link.

It makes reference to a T1000 series programmer's reference manual, which is possibly closer to what you want, but I can't find any reference to that.

I found the manual on this Youtube dude's blog: https://www.youtube.com/c/kevtris. Perhaps worth giving him a shout?
