Hi, I decided to share with you my recent creation. About year ago I bought Atari 1040 ste from ebay, but during transport case was smashed, good luck Atari survived. I already made some custom cases for Amigas. I decided to do custom case for Atari. It's not finished yet, but getting closer. Initially I wanted to use PS2 keyboard (that is why I bought Eiffel adapter from here: http://www.gossuin.be/index.php/shop , but finally decided to do custom case for keyboard and have an option. I replaced TOS (socketed it), upgraded RAM to 4MB , installed proper floppy socket and recapped PSU. I am going to install normal floppy via external port in future.

Re: Atari 1040 STE Custom Case
Looks like it's strong enough for a 'proper' (CRT) monitor to sit on top of - lovely bit of work

Re: Atari 1040 STE Custom Case
Interesting, for me a kind of "Déjà vu". It reminds me too much of the 1980's socialist computer cabinets. This large amount of metal is impressive. For me, the original Atari design was combined with lightness and efficiency
Good hard work!

That looks really professionally although indeed a little bit bulky.
But nevertheless, mind sharing how you do these things? The quality is really impressive...

Wow! That looks really well made, impressive work!
Re: Atari 1040 STE Custom Case
Hi, Yes it is bit bulky, maybe even panzer , but I wanted sturdy case and airflow is good .
I measured manually what left from smashed case and drew FreeCad drawing (converted later to Autocad). I am welder/fabricator. Case was laser cutted in my work place, later I welded it in my "DIY garage".
Keyboard is almost finished (received DIN7 connectors). I should soon post few more pictures showing progress.
Thanks.

Makes me think of the Wizztronics Falcon case.

Re: Atari 1040 STE Custom Case
I finally managed to complete the keyboard case. I installed inside OpenAmigaJoyMouseSwitcher https://github.com/SukkoPera/OpenAmigaJoyMouseSwitcher and ps2 mouse adapter, mouse works fine, didn't test joystick yet, but should work as well. Please see pictures.
Re: Atari 1040 STE Custom Case
Nice - I'll have to take a look at the link for that (though I would love to do my own Atari to PS/2 or USB HID device adapter if I ever had the time).
Re: Atari 1040 STE Custom Case
Hi, I decided to share some details of my case. In the archive there are pdf, skp and dxf files with details of rear and bottom panel. Hopefully useful to someone.
