All Frank said. :)

I'm using 80ns RAM (4 megs) on the memory board of my STacy. I think the board
originally had 120-150ns and that's just not fast enough.

When I first installed my Pak 68/3 board I had a huge issue with it crashing hard
(something like 10-15 bombs across the screen) every 16-17 minutes or so. Didn't
matter if there was activity or not. Crash, Boom!.

Turns out it was the 1.44 HD floppy drive mod doing polling. Every 16-17 minutes
when it polled, hard crash. It did not do this with the Pak 68/3 uninstalled. So
yeah, that clock/bus signal stuff has got to be just as clean as you can get it.

Keep us updated. :)

@frank.lukas @Darklord

My 4 megs ram chips are 100ns, so it should be OK according to the manual.

If nothing gets better after changing the line drivers, I will check with the recommended pull-ups values.

Today, I had only time to modify my Pu_STE, adding a Winslow connector to it:

Bending those stiff pins and trying to insert them in the PCB holes was not really easy and took some time.

But it is better to do it slowly if you do not want to break something...

Once fully inserted, soldering was easy peasy.

The height of the socket bothers me a lot, but as I wrote in another thread, getting the lowest Winslow is hard, as resellers want you to buy a minimum of 50 units.

Will have now to try if everything works as expected.

Well, since you are putting this into a Mega ST, the height should be okay. The Mega's
actually have a fair amount of space to play with, especially compared to some of
the other models.

Stick a Pak 68/3 into a STacy... :lol:

@Darklord @frank.lukas

I wonder if the Pu_STE would ever work in a Mega ST... So that is why I want to try the setup in my STE.

And if I can get my hands on the PuPla/2 on Ebay, it would be really great.

Cheers.

I know it's not a Frak 2, and thus isn't using the full potential of the
Pak 68/3 board, but since you have a STorm ST board already, is that
8 megs of TT RAM not enough?

Yeah, I know - it's not 64 whopping megs of RAM! :lol:

Derkom is using a STorm ST with his Terriblefire in his STacy and the
next time I open my STacy up, I'm going to use one with my Pak 68/3
setup...

Just a thought... :wink:

It is enough for me, but if ever manage to make the PAK/3 work in my Mega ST, I will build a FRAK/2...

I would be very grateful if you could do this, Frank.

I keep an eye on the auction.

Cheers.
