HW lovers

Post by utri007 »

Those who are hw lovers would appreciate TF520 style accelerator with cache, because;

It would speed up Amigas with side or zorro II ram expansion.

Lets say Amiga 500 with stylish GVP-HD8 would speed up a lot, or Amiga 2000 with Supra Ram in zorro slot.

It would benefit those how would like to use old expansion, like this :

With 16kb data cache TF520 would be much faster with expanion with fast ram.

Adding a external cache to fast ram is pointless. The CPU can access fast-RAM at full speed. A cache is only useful when it can cache system RAM. Better just to run apps in fast ram.

Sorry no, it is not pointless. With cache memory access is faster. Concept is proven with Supra accelerator.

This is 3x faster than TF520 40mhz

The TF520 is awful. (Virtually) Nobody wants a 020 when you can have an 030 + 64Mb of ram for very little. I know your interest is in the CDTV but honestly it would be simpler to rewrite the cdtv.device than mess about with this slow accelerator.

EDIT: but personally i have no interest in anything like this.

It is not just for a CDTV, also those who would like use their A500's sidecars and A2000's zorro ram expansion would benefit it.

Generally, it would help to get best performance out with OLD hardware. TF536 is NEW hardware and there is no point to use it with sidecar or zorro II ram expansion..

Thats why title is hw lovers. ;)
