Would like to share my progress so far.
A bit rough, it is my first build but looks working

Re: Fonzies build
I soldered on my nice cpu socket I got from the exxos store then realised it was very close to the memory chips
Not a problem if using a soldering iron but I was going to use solder paste and hot air
Kapton tape is arriving today and the only other thing to solder is the 68000 pins so I will hopefully will get my tf534 installed and working by tommorow

Re: Fonzies build
I am still trying to get this board to work over a year later, soldering the memory chips with paste did not go well, some solder ended up under one of the chips, I lost a track under the memory chip and think I repaired it ok, I was suspicious about my ebay xtal but now I have an oscilloscope I can see it's working fine, I am getting a blank screen even with diagrom, I am now thinking of removing all the memory chips and see if it will work without

Re: Fonzies build
Don’t think paste is easier than hand soldering. Takes a lot of trial and error to get right

I think for passive components paste is better but chips ? I am not decided as I am bad either way

Re: Fonzies build
Unless you are doing a lot of boards paste is a lot of work. I can do the SMD passives on a TF1260 (90 of them) in 45 mins by hand... im not fast either. I'd bet there are people here that would beat that time too. Paste has its place but its usually for bulk runs with pick and place. Hand soldering is pretty easy.

Re: Fonzies build
I think paste is great for passive SMD components, makes it so much easier. But yeah for chips it's hard to get the right amount of paste and always end up with bridges, then I end up hand soldering the finish anyway lol
Re: Fonzies build
I think with ic's you really need to use a mask but the time it would take you could probably hand solder quicker
