A1200 timing fixes for the 1260

Post by alenppc »

Just a quick heads up that it is necessary to do the timing fixes for the TF1260 to work properly. Removing E123C and E125C from the A1200 motherboard is usually sufficient to achieve this.

Alen,

What about for the ReAmiga 1200? I don't recall if John Hertell "built those in" to his board or not.

The timing fix was removing capacitors that were accidentally fitted in the original factory, I would highly doubt that the re-amiga would have these capacitors fitted.

if you look at the locator. it doesn't tell you to populate those caps.. so "it is done" already.

also done on newer amigas from commodore /escom aswell

You pretty much need to do these mods with all accelerators. This was a manufacturing fault that only affects ~1-2% of A1200s.

Could I please ask....

Are all revisions of A1200 motherboard affected?

What are the symptoms that would demonstrate that the timing fixes need to be applied?

Yes can affect all revisions, symptoms are when using an accelerator on a A1200 are games not running/Starting then blank screen or not starting at all, the best test I have found is to try the game `Mad Professor Mariarti`

This game when run with a A1200 that needs a timing fix will crash after starting or freeze with sound stuttering

Its the assembly that was the problem rather than specific motherboard revisions i believe. Others can confirm.
