Assembled H4 interests

Post by exxos »

I can't say costs, but expect to be around £100-£150 mark for parts and assembly but only its only a guess. I can't exactly say what parts will be fitted (but most of at least, though could be down to preference of the individual ) . I won't have time to work on assembled boards until all the PCB's are shipped out, so the wait may well be after xmas time.

I am still not sure who wanted assembled boards. So anyone whos ordered a board but can't build it , let me know your order number ASAP (just post it in this thread) and I won't ship the boards. Anyone who does not reply here, I will assume all boards are to be shipped out.

ASSEMBLY OPTIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. I AM NOT TAKING ON ANYMORE ORDERS FOR ASSEMBLED BOARDS.

Hi, interested in a prebuilt board.

Order # 6BF594311EB4BA6AE1EDBB51C9540600

Might order another one to build myself to a different spec (in very slow time)...if I feel brave enough!

You guys know your still going to need a doner machine for some of the main chips at least ? I do have some chips in my store like the WD1772 etc. Such chips will just have sockets on the board ready. Some connectors I have, but don't know if you want to get those from my store or the doner machine etc ?

As for potential donors, I'm up to about 20x STF/STFM boards though almost half have one or more faults to fix.

Do you have a list of what will be fitted and other parts which are options to buy?

I do understand that some parts are out of stock permanently, hence the donor requirement but knowing what these are would really help.

This is all a bit up in the air at the moment. Though its basically all the main IC's. Shifter, blitter, CPU, MFP,1772, 68B50, YM2149, DMA, (GLUE,MMU,DAC will be SMT from my store, or could just have sockets if you have those chips) . There is ROM as well, I assume will have to be sourced from my store.

Rear connectors & switch, I think I have them all or can get them locally, but this is why I thought id mention this, as you could get the connectors from my store (which are new of course) or get them from a doner machine. I guess its how bothered you guys are at desoldering loads of stuff..

Pretty much everything else is sourced locally (new parts). The only thing I don't have is cartridge connectors.. but if I ever get time to scrap my machines, I will add some into my store. But again, these would come from donor machines anyway.

EDIT:

The current costs of the "bulk" of the build comes to £96 so far, this isn't including the DB19 as they are £10 in my store, but all the cheaper connectors (like £2 stuff) is in that total. I really can't believe its come to that amount already. Most parts come from Rapid in the UK, so not exactly expensive stuff to start with. I haven't even got any sockets on the order yet either  Or VAT

Good job you brought today as its the last day for ordering.

As a note, the assembled boards option is now closed. I have spent the past few days putting together kits to build 5 boards, 2 will be for me most likely, and 3 people here. I'm not putting anymore parts together now.

Thanks for the opportunity Chris. This remake is a lot less expensive that the 1088 8-bit. It was going to cost me nearly $700 US. I have 3 working donor machines, but I will try to source what is not provided elsewhere before using them.

Phew - glad you've managed to get the order for the boards past the QC checks.

I'm wondering about the memory - can't source a Falcon RAM board myself (and the 16 Meg one in my Falcon is staying where it is!) so I guess it will have to be a 4 Meg SIMM - but I've no idea what spec will work.

Any ideas anybody?
