Re: Smonson's slow H4 build
I got the 34-pin IDC socket in the mail today, installed it and the floppy disk interface is working fine too. So now I have a fully-usable machine (albeit without sound)
One thing did change: now I have the jiggly screen effect that other people have had. Which is again good news, because I can attempt to resolve it.
Unfortunately Quartus 12 no longer runs on the latest Ubuntu and I don't have enough laptop disk space to install another OS so that's a bummer, I will be constantly walking between my PC and the other room to try stuff. A very annoying decision on Intel's part for taking Cyclone-II support out of Quartus at version 12.1.

Your new HDMI Shifter board is in the post so you can move to the new version of Quartus
Re: Smonson's slow H4 build
Thanks again Icky for sending me one.
Re: Smonson's slow H4 build
I tried to mount the DB19 for the hard disk as well today but found I couldn't line up the strain-relief holes. Rather than chop up a fairly valuable connector I'm going to put in a cable in place of the socket, and hang it out the back, so I can work on my future hard disk interface.

Re: Smonson's slow H4 build
Yeah I figured someone else would have reported it, but nothing came up in the forum search.
