H5 B1 FIXES

Post by exxos »

I have no idea how this hole vanished.. But there is a hole missing on the cartridge bracket..

The fix is to file the lug off the bracket and bucket loads of solder on it

Is it an option to drill the hole in the board, or that's too dangerous?

This gets ask all the time.. basically, no, not worth shorting on internal layers.

@exxos if it's just the bracket, can we miss that off & just fit the actual cartridge connector?

I imagine that you need the bracket to help with the strength of the connector, while inserting the cartridge.

I guess you could glue the connector to the board and not use the bracket. But bracket is the proper way of doing it.

Just thinking to check initial functionality without the bracket, then fit that once the cartridge is working...thanks!

sorry for the noob question, but is this the only fix needed on the Rev B1 boards? I had been (loosely) following a thread that showed several traces that needed to be cut and some bodge work but that may have been the earlier "A" board?

Thanks in advance.

Exactly. This is the only needed fix on B1 at the moment to get it booting. All is, however, not tested on the board yet.

A3 needed a bit more 'love' to get it going.
