H6 with USB-C power ?

Post by olivier.jan »

Just read this : https://hackaday.com/2021/01/16/usb-c- ... y-project/ and I’m wondering about the quality of the powered delivered. It could easily be tweaked to deliver both 5v and 12v and included directly on a motherboard?
Retro stuff
520 STF/ 1040 STE / Mega ST / 2 Mega STE / 2 H5
2 x 600XL with U1MB /SOFIA 2/ AVG CART / and a few 1050

Amiga 600 and a few 486 and 386.
Many Nintendo G&W and other electronic games from the late 70s/early 80s.

I am looking at solutions, but not much time to spend on it currently. I got some mains switchmodes to evaluate and try out from some months ago. Of course people can retro fit any PSU they want anyway. Though I really would test it out properly before usage as a lot of PSUs have really bad regulation.

I did review some common picopsu's a while ago as well https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/atari/last/pico/index.htm Can't say I was really impressed with any of them in the end. Just a side effect of such a small footprint I guess.

The modules I got are low cost and I want to give some alternative to the originals. For one, while people can use original PSU's or my new ones, I don't want to set myself up into making them forever. I have mentioned PSU thoughts here and there over time as well.

Just because a lot of people agree on something, doesn't make it a fact. ~exxos ~
People should find solutions to problems, not find problems with solutions.
