Probably will still be in the way... I took some images if it helps..mikro wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 11:43 am It's quite popular among Amiga people who for some reason prefer to have IDE female connectors angled to the left (contrary to the right what we would prefer). From your picture above it looked like the PCB is empty in that area except that black thing but maybe it's still too much.

Re: Future PSU designs
Hmm, this is going to be a very, very tight match, if so.
Can you measure the black thing in the bottom right corner for me, please?

Re: Future PSU designs
Its 15mm high from the PCB.. and is 26mm wide.

Re: Future PSU designs
By my rough measuring, 3-4 mm will be in the way, damn. As I said, I guess it's too late but if you ever have a reason to change something on the PCB, I'm a happy supporter of moving that black thing a few mills lower.
Re: Future PSU designs
No room to move anything about even 1mm Though I am always plotting future versions and it may not have the inductor at all on V3. But that is likely a long way off yet.

Oi, stop waffling and start soldering, only another 999 to go.... only joking....
That said waiting for Christmas, here’s hoping you will have them ready to ship by then, it’s going to be a tough decision- iPhone XS Max or 4 power supplies......

Re: Future PSU designs
I'm trying to get the best deals on parts at the moment, its a massive outlay to build them up. I've got the PCBs and will be sending off boxes of bits to be assembled in a couple of weeks hopefully.

Re: Future PSU designs
Ever thought of selling as a kit of parts? Would it save you some costs?, I know parts are the big cost but getting them assembled by a third party must also be a fair wack...

Re: Future PSU designs
Yes and no.. The problem is, half the people will mess it up, and then ask me for help, nothing wrong with that of course, but from my point of view , its more work on my part with trying to fix stuff I don't have in front of me, which is a nightmare to start with, and I don't want to spend forever replying to emails trying to help people fix stuff. It boils down to creating myself 5x more work for half the price. This is exactly what happened with the STE booster. Then I spend a entire year fixing peoples motherboards rather than doing dev-work etc.. I just don't want to go down that road again. I pretty much regret selling the STE booster after all the chaos it landed in.
While selling stuff as a kit is of course cheaper, it creates myself to much work to help the influx of people who can't solder it and get it working. This is pretty much the problem with all the kits I sell. Its why I am trying to sell stuff ready-built these days, costs more, but it has to be done to cut down on the support emails I have to do every day.

...and it's a PSU with high voltage. Mess it up and you may not even be able to ask Chris for help!
