Have I bought the right kit?

Post by pawaller »

Hi all,
Just purchased the cap kit for ASP34 as my psu is labelled ASP34-2.

I'm confused because the supplied caps don't seem to match the ones on my psu...

C4 & C5 are 350v 33uF (the kit comes with 250v 47uF)

also what are the 3x 25v 680uF meant to replace? C7, C14, C15? ( 25V 330uF)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
I re-read the schematic and went for it.

Fitted kit, good news is the machine still works, bad news is I seem to have the same graphical issue (see screenshot)

GEM desktop looks OK but any games seem to suffer.

Getting 5v instead of 3v now, I still don't have 12v but using gotek so not sure if it is still needed, or is the graphical issue because I don't have 12v?

Is this a PSU issue or should I be looking elsewhere?

Any advice for the next steps please?

Many thanks
Phil

Are you using any sort of scan-doubler because those normally cause no end of problems like that.

I am using a cable with 13 pin DIN on one end, VGA plug on the other, I don't think there are any active components inside.
Was that a poor ebay purchase?

I was half expecting my modern monitor to not be able to display the atari output full stop.

Things were so much easier in the 80's :-)

I don't know what cable you have purchased on eBay ?

Mostly people go for these, these days...
