But if people want the goods they will just have to pay the VAT charges. If people do not pay the charges and the package will bounce back to me and if it starts causing a lot of problems then I will have to think seriously about not shipping to EU any more.
Personnally, I'll bite the bullet... just wait a little more between buys to have a smaller ratio of tax over price paid. Anyway I have some mandatory item to get, to go on.

I have no idea what's going on then. Normally they don't let you have the package until taxes are paid. I guess they could send a bill later but I thinks it's rare in my experience..

To bump this thread. Has anyone yet got charged import VAT to EU states ?

AFAIK nobody yet has been charged VAT. I still can't wrap my head around it all. I can only assume as I am selling from the UK its down to the EU if they charge VAT or not. I assume they do on USA imports, so it would be the same for UK..?!

Alkexpress charge VAT now, but that's a seller outside of the UK. I'm not VAT registered in the UK. So I do not charge VAT or can I claim it back. I think the government sites seem to assume UK companies are VAT registered. But as a exporter from the UK, it would still fall on EU states to collect VAT, but they do not seem to be charging it.. Which makes no sense at all.

So this is even more ridiculous..

And now UPS send me a bill as well..

So £129.05 goods, and 70.56 in tax charges!! So basically a 55% markup in tax and charges :cussing: :WTF:

If you can show a tax pre-payment, UPS cannot charge.
I've had it a couple of times with them and DHL.

I have emailed them, but UPS seemed to have "gone to the dogs" over the past couple of years. I just know I will end up paying it otherwise I will not get my package because that is how businesses work these days

Yeah UPS have been a real pain in my arse recently. They love taking money from you, but to get it back from them even when they admit fault is a nightmare. I've stopped using them myself for posting out.
