TF1230 Beta Interest (Open Source)

Post by terriblefire »

Ok so since Edu Arana has bascially restarted the TF1230 that he abandoned a few years ago I suppose i should just get this out there. I'm pretty unhappy with Edu mainly because he abandoned it and then restarted it without telling me. I wouldnt have bothered doing a 1230 card if i'd known this.

So i am prepared to add the TF1230 eagle and gerbers to the TF330 repo while i develop the firmware further. Its not far away but will need beta testers but will be entirely at risk. Who is interested?

Remember this is non working for 2 out of the 3 people testing it so consider it beta if you do order one.

Wow! Thumbs up, these are great news! :o
I just ordered 30x to be able to test these in our small group.

Have actually all spares here already: connectors, cplds, CPU sockets..have one question though - will cheap ISSI IS42S16320B-75ETLI RAM work or expensive Alliance RAMs will be needed? Would be great if these will work - have a lot of them here. :!:

erm no, this is not true. Let's clarify a little bit...using your comments:

Leary: Ok so since Edu Arana has basically restarted the TF1230 that he abandoned a few years ago I suppose i should just get this out there.
Arana: No, this is not something based on your TF330 project, this is not even my design. I just host the page and helps with tips to the author of the board which is the same as the A1100 project Miguel Fides.
Leary: I'm pretty unhappy with Edu mainly because he abandoned it and then restarted it without telling me.
Arana: Don't you have do just the same?? I mean, you already designed a TF1230 board without even telling me anything, so, WTF man.
Leary: I wouldn't have bothered doing a 1230 card if i'd known this.
Arana: People have the right of doing their own stuff, even this board, has the right to have his place without bothering anyone else projects.

Also, commenting on the TF330 a1200 version that I've made a few years ago, I have completely no support from you on the firmware or HW part. I made three different designs using your tf330 firmware which none of them seems to works on any case, only Diagrom was able to boot, partially so yeah, you can speak half of the true but sincerely, you should speak also the other part.

Anyway, if you need to speak, you now my email "dude".

Best regards,
Yo.

All of this is true but your communication is terrible.

You had access to the TF330 a year before everyone else. What am I supposed to think when i see a board that looks like a derivative? You could have given me a heads up and save me the pain of the RSI of routing the board... Its not *required* but given your early access to the TF330 it would only be polite.

The reason your TF1230 didnt work is because you autorouted it.. against my recommendations. I have helped and defended you in public in the past. Not again.

To be clear the easy way to avoid upsetting people is to ping me an email to say "I have a card coming out and its not derived from TF330"...

Instead i get my friends pinging me messages saying Edu has ripped off your card...

You need to think about the perception of this given what you have had access to. A simple email would have solved it. Anyways..
